Free BMI Calculator

I have a free BMI calculator here for you to find out your BMI (body mass index).

Why Use BMI?
It gives doctors and nutritionists information about your weight status. While BMI doesn’t give a full picture of your health, it does give some indication about your risk for diseases associated with being overweight.

Is BMI an Absolute Index of Health?
NO. It is a screening tool to identify possible weight problems for adults. It is not a diagnostic tool. BMI can only determine if excess weight is a health risk. Discuss your concerns about your weight and health with your healthcare provider and let them do other health assessments for you.

Who Can Use the Free BMI Calculator here?
The widget below is for people between 18 and 60 years of age.

BMI Variations
BMI does not take body composition into account. This means that an athlete or body builder might have a high BMI but not have increased health risk as their body fat percentage is low on the BMI calculator.

BMI number is different for children and teens, girls and boys.

BMI
Weight Status
Below 18.5 Underweight
18.5 – 24.9 Normal
25.0 – 29.9 Overweight
30.0 and Above Obese

What is Your Ideal Weight?
Ancient Chinese appreciated fat women. Nowadays people appreciate slim beauty. The world is full of weight loss advertisements. Even people with very good shape are looking to lose weight.

What is your ideal weight? And even if your weight is ideal, does it mean you are healthy?

Let me take one step further as to compare my BMI score and my health condition.

BMI Score vs Health
I used to be 21.5 before fasting which was normal in weight status and very low in disease risk, according to BMI. But my fat was unevenly distributed and wrapped around my belly area which made me look like a pregnant woman. I was also suffering badly from bloating. I ended up had to imply fasting to recover. I lose weight during the course naturally and I’m now 18 which BMI considered as underweight but I feel I’m far healthier than before.

My Final Thought
If you feel that you are healthy, the BMI score is no big deal. If you feel that your health is threatened by overweight or underweight, consult a medical professional. If you are normal or marginally over/under, however still suffering from some kind of health issue, consider alternative healing. In my case, exercise and fasting has been my health duo.
